What Now?
As writer/editor of WHAT? E-NEWS Rose makes it her job to keep the Central
Coast entertainment community (performers and patrons) up-to-date with the latest news and information about local productions,
via her free fortnightly e-newsletter. Being a dedicated supporter of local talent as well as being an aspiring theatrical
performer herself, Rose is combining business and pleasure for the benefit of the Central Coast Theatrical Community!
What Else?
As a freelance journalist since 1992, Rose has 100's of articles in print in many and varied national publications. Not
bad for a full-time mother of three sons. Rose's areas of expertise include comedy, women's health and sexuality issues, relationships, new
age philosophies, the entertainment industry & sport. Over the years, Rose has contributed articles to women's sexuality
forum website www.vaginaverite.com and www.onlineopinion.com.au Rose would dearly love to write a full lenght play and or screenplay - she has written a few shorter scripts so far...
Highlights of Rose's career include:
- Finalist in the 1996 CUB Australian Sportswriter of the Year Awards
- Writing a comedy sketch for the Denton TV show which aired in November, 1996;
- Writing for The Andrew Denton Breakfast Radio Show during 1997
- 31 Features for Australian Womens Forum, full time feature writer for For Me during 1998 and seven features
for Inside Sport magazine.
- WON a comedy writing competition run by 2DayFm in 1998
- Commissioned as regular advice columnist in Australian Womens Forum Magazine from 1998 till the mag's demise
in 2001.
- Commissioned as Op-Ed columnist in the Daily Telegraph (Central Coast Extra) 2002/3
- 2004 Commissioned writer for Qantas Inflight Magazine
- 2004 Appearance on Today Show discussing Sexuality education in schools
- Game show appearances on: Catchphrase, Sale of the Century and Who Want's to be A Millionaire.
- Being on the Committee of VDay Wyong, 2007, which raised $12,000 for Central Coast Women's shelters
- Raising another $30,000 for VDay Gosford and Wyong 2008
- Finalist playwright in Central Coast Short and Sweet 2008
- Wildcard entrant Short and Sweet Sydney 2009
- Finalist playwright in Central Coast Short and Sweet 2009
- Winner of best production at CC Theatrefest 2008 with the two hander 'Merge'
- Judged "Best Supporting Actress" at CC Theatrefest 2009
Rose has to date, participated in nine musicals for Gosford Musical Society
since 2002, one play with Laycock Street Theatre (Dimboola, 2004), one with WWLT (It Runs in the Family,
2006) and three with Wyong Drama Group (A Bedfull of Foreigners, 2006; What's for Pudding? 2007 Inheritance
2009). Rose is also a graduate of Mad Cow Theatre Co.'s Theatresports improvised theatre training courses
and has become a regular performer and host of their monthly shows.
